Victory Octane: The Modern American Musclebike

Fresh off the press! Here’s our first look at the brand new Victory Octane. I don’t know about you guys but I love it! Ok, yes, you can see the lines of the Scout but it looks much meaner and aggressive. This is a bike I can see cutting through the rush hour traffic with attitude.

 Victory Octane: the Modern American Musclebike
Every high-octane horsepower enthusiast is familiar with the muscle car formula: take a big motor, insert it into a lightweight chassis then remove any creature comforts or other unnecessary accessories.
What’s left is just what you need to go very fast and nothing else.
The all-new Victory Octane is the two-wheeled expression of that concept with a modern twist.
This is raw adrenaline that rules the streets. A 1200cc, liquid-cooled V-twin —Victory’s first-ever liquid-cooled engine — utilises dual overhead cams and four-valve heads to rev beyond 8000 rpm and put down 104 horsepower.
That’s more horsepower than in any production Victory motorcycle ever built.
No surprise then that Octane is also the quickest Victory down the quarter-mile and the fastest from 0-60 mph too. And with a price starting from €12,950, Octane runs in a class of its own.
A stiff and light cast-aluminium frame transmits every last one of those horsepower directly to the asphalt. Sharp steering geometry, a tight 1578mm (62.1 in) wheelbase and 32° of available lean angle deliver agility previously unknown to American V-twin motorcycles.
Muscular styling cuts an undeniably modern profile and a sportsbike-inspired bullet cowl improves airflow over the rider at the triple-digit speeds that Octane is built to achieve.
The first hundred customers (including pre-orders) will be given a special engine cover with the Project 156 logo on it.
A RACE-BRED POWERTRAIN
Developed from the Project 156 prototype that was tested at the most demanding racing event in the world—the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb™—the 60-degree V-twin features a short-stroke just like the Project 156 racer to allow higher engine rpm and more horsepower and a quick-revving engine more like a sportsbike than any traditional American V-Twin. An electronically metered 60mm throttle body feeds high-flow four-valve heads (operated by dual overhead cams) and liquid cooling quenches the heat generated by 104 horsepower and 99 Nm of tyre-shredding torque. Geared short for quicker acceleration, Octane can sprint down the quarter-mile in 12 seconds and rush from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds. With the heart of a racer, Octane has power to burn.
A STIFF AND SOLID CHASSIS
Raw power is only half of the muscle bike equation. You also need a solid chassis that can transmit all that power to the road and also hold a tight line when bent into a corner. Octane’s solid-mounted powertrain is a stressed member that connects cast-aluminium front and rear frame sections, with twin tubular-steel backbones for added reinforcement. This rigid assembly is suspended up front by a 41mm fork equipped with dual-rate springs for solid front-end feedback over any type of road and out back with stylish laydown shocks mounted 53 degrees off-horizontal, also equipped with preload-adjustable dual-rate springs. Oversized, 298mm disc brakes with stainless-steel lines are at both ends and ABS is standard. Cast aluminium, 10-spoke wheels are sized and shod for sure-footed handling. The 18-inch front wheel wears 130/70-18 rubber, while the 17-inch rear wheel is wrapped with a 160/70-17 tyre. A low-slung solo saddle that rides just 658mm (25.9 inches) above the pavement, an equally low pullback handlebar and semi-forward-set foot controls create a riding position that looks properly badass but still provides adequate support when the rider grabs a big handful of throttle and the bike wants to rocket off the line.
SHARP-EDGED STYLING
There are no smooth, flowing lines here. Octane is the most aggressive Victory motorcycle ever built and the styling has been revised to suit with harder lines, sharper creases, a more-pronounced centre spine and other details that make Octane look leaner and meaner than any American motorcycle ever before. The bullet cowl is standard equipment and screams to oncoming traffic that this bike is built for speed—the only thing other riders are going to see is the LED taillight disappearing into the distance. Chrome won’t get you home, so there’s hardly any shiny stuff on Octane. The bulk of the chassis, running gear and powertrain are blacked-out, and Matte Super Steel Grey bodywork looks all business. Even the tank badge has been cast in grey instead of the traditional Victory red to create a modern, monochrome look.

Polaris Announce MY16 Line-Up for Indian & Victory Motorcycles

Exciting news for those of us interested in Indian & Victory motorcycles in the UK as today we got word of what changes/colours will be available in the 2016 range. Personally I’m liking the look of the Storm Grey and Thunder Black Roadmaster with the black leather seat. I’ve never been a huge fan of the tan leather look (except for on the Red and Ivory Vintage) so it’s good to see the Roadmaster getting the black treatment. Now how about a blacked out engine too like we have on the Dark Horse? Other good news for vegans and lovers of black is that a black vinyl seat will be available for the 2015/16 Scout!

Indian MY16 Line-Up

For 2016 Indian Motorcycle is once again delivering premium finishes and new colour schemes for its range of cruisers, baggers and tourers.

Indian Motorcycle has had record sales results this financial year, helped by overwhelming demand for the Scout, Chief Dark Horse and Roadmaster.

The brand expects growing interest from bikers throughout EMEA during 2016 as they begin to see and hear more about Indian Motorcycle ownership and the experiences each model can offer.

Dario Baraggia, EMEA Motorcycle Brand Manager, says it’s easy to see the appeal of these beautiful, well-engineered motorcycles on roads throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“It seems like yesterday that Polaris re-launched Indian Motorcycle at the end of 2013,” says Dario. “And now we are launching a MY16 range with six award-winning motorcycles that have been enjoyed by a high number of customers in just two years of sales. 2016 Scout
There has been huge demand for this middle-weight cruiser in the EMEA region. With its compact design, low 643mm seat height and ABS as standard, the Indian Scout is the perfect multipurpose bike for any rider. Its liquid-cooled 1133cc V-twin engine has a usable 100hp of performance and a sound that will bring a smile to your face every time you ride.

2016 Chief Dark Horse | Chief Classic | Chief Vintage | Chieftain
For 2016, Indian Motorcycle continues to sell its award-winning Indian Chief models, delivering the power, handling, unmatched engineering and stunning beauty of the industry’s hottest heavyweight cruisers and baggers.

The Indian Chief family has impeccable styling and sophisticated performance. The proven Thunder Stroke 111 engine powers them all (an air-cooled version is on the Chief Dark Horse, Classic and Vintage), but each model has its own character and style.

Riders can opt for the Chief Classic (cruiser) with its classic looks, much cleaner now following some re-work carried out for 2016: solo vinyl seat, black switches, single headlight and cast aluminium wheels. It now also only comes in one colour; Pearl White.

Finally there’s the Chief Dark Horse. This is the most striking cruiser on the market. It is matte black from end-to-end with only a few flashes of chrome (accessories are available to fully blacken it out). This bike makes a statement even before you fire it up. It looks intimidating, but its low seat height and balance makes it very easy to swing a leg over and ride, plus it’s the best entry point to ride a Thunder Stroke 111 powered Indian Motorcycle. Propelled by 139Nm of torque and the same chassis and suspension from the award-winning Chief Classic, the Chief Dark Horse rolls with ABS, a remote key fob for keyless ignition and electronic cruise control.

Victory MY16 Line-Up

Victory Motorcycles has announced which bike models will be part of the EMEA 2016 line-up.

The 2016 line-up has been fine-tuned with design updates and new colours across its cruiser, bagger and touring models.

Victory Motorcycles is now putting its focus on performance while its class-leading motorcycles already carry a reputation for reliability and handling.

The manufacturer engineers ‘Modern American Performance’ into every bike that rolls out of the factory at Spirit Lake in Iowa.

Dario Baraggia, Motorcycle Brand Manager EMEA says: “Victory Motorcycles builds bikes that crave the open road, can blast through city streets or rip off from the green light. But it also builds bikes to win NHRA races, to break land speed records, race at the Isle of Man TT and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We have also built a bike for ‘Grizzly’ and his endurance team to circumnavigate the world in less than 100 days in 2016. And Victory’s stunt team, well, there’s no predicting what they’ll do next. And, last but not least, Victory has started the production of the first electric bike in its seventeen-year history, the Victory Empulse TT. Victory Motorcycles is now without question, all about ‘Modern American Performance.”

For 2016, Victory Motorcycle’s line-up of bikes is split into four categories. These are Cruisers, Baggers, Touring and Electric. However, the firm says that the launch in EMEA of the new electric Victory Empulse TT will be subject to demand for the bike.

Here’s a look at what’s on offer.

CRUISERS

The 2016 Cruiser line-up is the brand’s most aggressive iteration of American muscle yet.

The line-up consists of the Vegas 8-Ball (all-black) and Vegas, the Hammer 8-Ball and Hammer S performance cruisers and the Judge sport-cruiser. Let’s not forget the Gunner, which has been a huge sales success and finally, the High-Ball, which is in high demand for its bobber-style.

Three of the cruisers – the Judge, Hammer S and Gunner – have the footpegs placed mid-frame instead of forward, giving riders in EMEA a sportier riding position to what riders in the USA have.

The Gunner, High-Ball and Judge all have ABS as standard.

VEGAS

The Vegas 8-Ball (all-black) and the Vegas have had the biggest changes this year. Each has an improved round headlight and colour-matched frames. Victory has also upgraded the wheels for each model, fitting cast aluminium axe design ‘Falchion’ wheels. These are lighter and stronger. The painted frame adds a custom touch, but not a gram of weight. A new, sleeker headlight further slims the profile. The Vegas 8-Ball comes in Gloss Black and the Vegas is only on sale in Sunset Red.
