Twenty-six years ago today (4th January 1986) Phil Lynott cast aside his earthly shackles and took his place among the great and the good on the Otherside, he was 36. The Thin Lizzy front man and fellow bass thumper is one of my all time heroes as a talented musician, gifted songwriter and phenomenal performer. His musical works are among the greatest in Rock’n’Roll from the obvious ode to male bonding “Boys Are Back in Town” to the raucous reimagining of the traditional Irish tune “Whiskey in the Jar” and every “Jailbreak”, “Bad Reputation” and “Rosalie” in between.
So please raise a jar and toast the wild life of this Rock’n’Roll legend.
