A song that makes you fall asleep: Zzzzzzzzzzzzz…
*BBBBBBBBRRRIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGG!!!!!!* Wake up! A song that makes me fall asleep you say. Well I did fall asleep once when I saw the London Symphony Orchestra, not that it was boring but more because it was warm, the seats were cosy and the music was soothing (not to mention I’d been out all of the night before and not slept a wink). You see me and sleep have a good thing going. I like it. You are speaking to someone who fell asleep propped up against a front of house speaker stack at the Marquee Club in London during another bands sound check.
Sleep is one of my favourite past times so it only follows that there are many songs that I like falling asleep to, but songs that make me fall asleep are something else entirely. However, while I don’t recall any one song actually causing Mister Sandman to speed me away into a REM coma there are one or two tracks that do cause fatigue. One of them is “Great Gig in the Sky” by Pink Floyd. How can you not be mesmerised by this song? The vocal crescendo, the dreamy guitars, the soothing bass? It’s enough to send that Zippy guy from Rainbow into the land of nod.
However there are a whole group of songs guaranteed to comatose me; anything by a reality TV star.
